New rules in Ryanair. Since November additional hand luggage is only available for extra charge.

Up until now, two hand luggage could be carried on board a Ryanair aircraft – a small suitcase and a purse or backpack.┬áRyanair has decided to change its luggage policy by explaining this decision to delays caused by passengers who too often brought in two hand luggage.

At the beginning of November, such privilege will only be available to those who, when booking a ticket, pay an additional fee of EUR 5 for boarding. And not all, but only the first 90 people, including the Plus or Flexi Plus passengers (additional, paid service to change your reservation for an earlier or later flight).

Other passengers will still be able to take their bag or backpack with them. However, all other bags and small suitcases weighing up to 10 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 20 cm will be located – free of charge – in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. This means that they will have to wait for landing after the landing, just as with larger checked baggage.

More for less

However, Ryanair decided to reduce the fees for sending registered baggage and increase its weight limit. From November it will cost not 35 and 25 euros. At this price you will be able to take 20 kg of luggage instead of the current 15 kg.

The head of Irish marketing, Kenny Jacobs, explains that the changes are designed to accelerate clearance and thus reduce flight delays. Cheap lines also hope that this will improve the comfort of all passengers who do not have to wait and “get over” on the overloaded luggage.
